Bow hunters - How far away is your hunting spot?

Postby Patriot » Fri Dec 12, 2008 8:51 am

For those of you that bowhunt throughout the season, how far away is your main hunting location?

My main spot is my in-laws farm.  It is 2 hours and 40 minutes away.  I'm blessed to have incredible in-laws as well as being able to bring my family with each weekend (usually 2 weekends in September, 2 in October, and nearly every weekend in November).

My favorite spot is of no relation to me and only about 15-20 mins away. It looked like a good place that should have deer and i asked one day way back in high school. We've been building a relationship ever since(8yrs i think). He always enjoys all the summer sausage and pepper sticks that i bring him and i certainly enjoy the hunt. He doesnt hunt so it works out perfect!

Its MUCH more important than that!

My hunting grounds are less than 15 min. away. Sooner if I don't poke along. I do retail and 6 or 7 years ago he found  I deer hunt and he asked me to come over and eliminate some. Talk about a gold mine! Fast forward the clock, and now I only have to share the land with whom I allow to come on vs the days of old when he had others which were allowed on.
Funny thing though, doesn't like deer meat at all, but wild turkey, now that's another thing. Therefore I do my duty in the spring time and fulfill his requirements.
There's nothing like being in the outdoors. Work is boring!

About 1000 ft. behind my house. The owner said if I put up a stand we could share it, funny thing is 20 ft. up isn't his idea of fun so at the other corner of the property I built him a ground blind, he hasn't been out yet but appreciates what i've done. I have another spot 25 min. away, a 60 acre hobby farm that nobody hunts, til now !!! Happy hunting

My spot is about 2 hrs and 45 minutes away, it is all my own a 53 acre spread in the PA mountains, wish i had a closer place to hunt in Ohio, but hard to find places where people are not already hunting.

I have two primary bow hunting spots. One is in Iowa, 45 min from my home. The other is just over the Missouri line, 1 hr 15 min from home.

I have two "back-up" spots each within a few miles of my house.

I suppose that makes my average 30-60 minutes?

My hunting spot is about an hour away on my grandparents farm.  Haven't hunted anywhere else before and there are some good deer on there land.
