My Buddies First Deer

Postby dxthunter57 » Sat Dec 13, 2008 5:56 am

we were setting up on a drive and me and my busddy were sitting together and my 2 other buddies were driving to us
i had only one more tag for this year a doe tag
a little while into the drive a doe came running out and stopped 75 yards out
i put the cross hairs on her and looked over at my buddy
he didnt have a gun but had 2 buck tags and hadnt ever shot a deer before
i put the gun down and said you take her
he said no way
i said she is all yours
he shot dropped her in her tracks
i was so proud of him you guys should have seen the smile on his face after she fell
i felt really good to
just a cool hunt i will never forget

dxthunter57 well done way to make hunting more about the friendship and giving your buddy the thrill of his first deer, than you filling your tag.  Its people like you that make the future of hunting bright.
Go ahead and pat yourself on the back you did what a lot of hunters wouldnt have done..

I think there was an article entitled "Act Like You've Been There" in D&DH a few years ago. If you can find it, it would be a good read for your friend.
