Marine Corps General Reinwald was interviewed on the radio the other day and you'll love his reply to the lady who interviewed him concerning guns and children. this is one of the best comeback lines of all time!!! The interview is between a female public radio broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation.
 
 
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?
 
GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery and shooting.
 
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?
 
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why. They'll be properly supervised on the firing range.
 
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?
 
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they ever touch a firearm.
 
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you are equiping them to become violent killers!
 
GENERAL REINWALD: Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but your not one are you?
 
The radio went silent and the interview ended.

Yes, it's urban legend, but it's still a good tale.
 
This one however IS true. Now I know you aren't fond of Ted Nugent, but you gotta give the man credit for this one........

 I think his comment no matter how old  is great and it does serve a very important point that guns do not create crime but rather criminals do.
 
everyone has the ability to be a negetive draw on society but it is the person not the equipment that causes violence or crime
 
maybe it is time we stopped trying tp play nice and actually make some points like this one that People are to blame and are resposible for their actions not an inanimate object..
 
Maybe the focus should be on resposibility....resposibility for your actions..your retirement...your health care..your family...your children..your livleyhood....
 
treat criminals like criminals not like your next door neighbor...they should have no rights ..they should loose them when they choose by their free will to inflict pain and heartache on resopsible...

he rubs the average non hunter the wrong way more than he changes thier thinking or attitude toward hunting...
 
and i hate that he hunts the YO ranch..a high fence kill adventure, not hunting adventure,

I don't think this statement will be backd up by wikipedia but if you watch him in iterviews it is hard to see how he persuades non hunters to except hunting with his brashness...not to say he is wrong but it takes a true politician and articulate orator to change the masses distorted view of hunting 
 
 it is my opinioin but anytime you put ted on something you are bound to shift the focus on to him and away from the topic...and this is this evidence that see..... the point that he is not helping persuade the average non hunter to change but just insighting the rage, anger and emotion hunters have toward anti's and  non-hunters alike
