We've got both of ours laying on the floor of our cabin/barn at camp.
When I do it again, I'll probaly keep the hide and drape it on a couch or put it some place else in my room at home.
They've held up real well laying on the floor, we don't walk on them much, but they've gotten wet, and still seem to be just fine.

After seeing here that I can have a hide tanned for 60-100 dollars I rethought about doing it myself and now feel I am not up for the job. I'll help support the economy by giving the work to a taxidermy shop (unless it cost's more than 100 or so).
I never researched the prices of having one done, I just thought it would be alot more.
With all the deer you may have taken there holds in your memory a special place i'm sure for each one you killed.
