Deep Question

Postby JPH » Wed Oct 07, 2009 5:41 am

Here is one that I suspect will spark some interesting discussion. Do animals possess a soul?

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts.

They possess backstraps. This I know for sure, and is actually all I really need to know.

I guess I'll know the answer to your question when I go for my dirt nap.

Woundn't it be funny of God was a deer? Or maybe not, as then we'll surely be spending eternity roasting marshallows!!! [:)]

I thought this was going to be a question about how far you go in the woods or offshore. [:D]

I have no answer to your question.
It's something I cannot fathom/process in my mind.

Did you mean to ask "do they have a Spirit"?  Your soul is your mind and emotional realm of your body.  Your spirit is what lives on after you die.  The Bible mentions nothing of animals possessing a spirit.  However it does mention that a sparrow does not fall to the ground that God does not know about.  This statement could lead you to believe that God obviously cares about His creation and could/would see to it that they spend eternity in Heaven being hunted by us once again!  Remember that one that got away...you may get a 2nd chance after all!

Im not sure where its at in the Bible but it does mention that the lion will lay down with the lamb. Not sure if that has a hidden meaning or that the spirits of these animals will be there

I believe that animals do have souls or spirits. They are Gods creatures so I assume that they have souls/ spirits

All this deep thought has got me thinking.......

Does a chicken have lips? And if it did, why would it need them?

And although they must have them, because I've eaten them dunked in BBQ sauce, I've never found a chicken's fingers

I do not believe that they have a soul in the same sense as we do. I believe their is a definite distinction between man and animal, what that distinction is I cant answer. Man is the only thing made in Gods image, thats something special and I like to believe that it will put us in a higher place when we go to be with Him.
I'm also thinking that they do not go to hell so...I don't know.
