Engagement/Antelope Sucsess

Postby MN_Prairie_Prowler » Fri Sep 25, 2009 3:19 am

I know this a deer huntng forum but I thought you guys and girls might like to here about my girlfriend, Kelli, and I recent antelope hunt to SD.

We got back a couple days ago but everything has been very busy lately so I haven't had a chance to let you guys in on the news.

The very first hour of the hunt my girlfriend stuck a nice buck in the shoulder at 50 yards and after a half of day of watching and waiting for him to expire we tried to sneak closer for a finishing shot. No luck, he spotted us first.
After a long restless night we found him lying dead where we had watched him bed the night before. When Kelli wasnt looking I slipped an engagement ring on the horn of her buck. I told her to get over there and I'd take some pictures of her. She knelt down deside it and almost grabbed the ring when she picked up his head. I was quickly snapping pictures of her to capture her expresion. I think I got one of her when she first realized it. She was so shocked! She never had a clue. She said YES!
After a bunch more pictures we quartered him and she wanted to pack him out the 3/4 of a mile so I helped her get the pack on and off we went.
The next morning I was lucky enough to have a nice buck come in and I shot him at 23 yards. I couldnt believe it.

I am so lucky! A goat and a fiance'! I'm the luckiest man in the world.
This was her second big game animal with a bow and my first antelope with a bow. Unbelievable!

Lucky is an understatement.
Thanks alot.

That was the best hunting trip I have ever been on or probably ever will be on. There isnt anything that could top that.

Congrats all the way round. Wish my wife would take up hunting... Maybe some day. Your starting out with a "keeper"!

Best Wishes!

Thanks, she's a very wonderful girl. She shot a doe 2 years ago and has taken a couple with the shot gun. I'm looking forward to spending every hunting season from here out with her.

Congrats!!  That's awesome!!  It is so much fun to have someone that close to hunt with.  The worst thing for me is I always want to set my wife in the best spots.    Great luck!!
