I will trade you a turkey locating dog for one that finds deer sheds

Good point!  I love deer hunting more than turkey hunting so if I find one of those I'll let ya know

I hope you don't mind but I typed in your birds measurements into the NWTF website scoring calculator and it scored 101, which would be in the top 30 in Iowa history.  CONGRATS again.

Well, I shot that particular bird in Missouri, so I don't know how that would shake out.

I skinned him out and kept the breast skin intact, with the beards still attached and dumped some Borax on it. I don't even know what I am going to do with it. I wouldn't mind having a full body turkey mount, but I don't have the space.

To be honest, I kind of see the NWTF scoring system as artificial. The birds that I have shot that scored high were not necessarily harder to kill. Only those with really long spurs have stood out in my mind. I knew this one was a mature bird with a thick beard, but it's not like I was holding out for a high NWTF score. (As an aside, I also find B&C net scores to be artificial as well)

If we're talking nets we better be fishin'!
Put me on a mountain, way back in the backwoods
Put me on a lake with biggin' on the line
Put me around a campfire cookin' something I just cleaned

JPH - Here is a pic of some work a local taxidermist has done that I though was different plus it doesnt take up the room that a full mount takes up.

This is what I had done with the tom that I shot last year:

Very nice mounts. I particularly like the mount in the 2nd picture.

Beautiful! I will have to add those ideas to my taxidermy wish list. Thanks.

Ps. I love the retro, wall-mount, corded phone! It really adds to the rustic feel.
