I personally didn't see it but, as long as it was returned I suppose I'm OK with it. I think over there they do that like we do the handshake here....although there is more connected with it...supposedly a sign of mutual respect. Everywhere has stuff like that. I'm more comfortable with exchanging bows like Asiatic and Arabian countries do than the kissing both cheeks thing that other areas do... JMO
Back to the subject though... if he bowed and showed subservience though that is a different story and really sits poorly. I don't think anybody who has ever served or has had family who served would react well to that.
