I heard our leader bowwed before a Arabic leader a few weeks ago. I just wanted to see what some of you red-blooded Americans thought of this gesture? Personaly, I didnt approve, I think its going to be taken as a sign of weakness to other world-leaders, and is a disgrace to our country....

how about his love fest with Hugo Chavez in Trinadad this weekend or our recent love fest with Cuba!  Now all the sudden we want equal partnerships with guys who have been calling for nasty things to happen to us.  Obama is a joke and I'm sick of his administration already!  I just hope that he doesn't weaken the US so badly in 4 years that we cannot recover!

I personally didn't see it but, as long as it was returned I suppose I'm OK with it.  I think over there they do that like we do the handshake here....although there is more connected with it...supposedly a sign of mutual respect.  Everywhere has stuff like that.  I'm more comfortable with exchanging bows like Asiatic and Arabian countries do than the kissing both cheeks thing that other areas do...  JMO
Back to the subject though... if he bowed and showed subservience though that is a different story and really sits poorly.  I don't think anybody who has ever served or has had family who served would react well to that.

I'm with you on this.  Different countries have different ways of recognizing someone and showing respect, and this is what is happening here.  We're all not the same in our views and values!

Obama should have been told or known that he should not have bowed to another "world leader". It was the wrong thing to do, they know that but it was still done.
This was a sign of weakness.
As for the photo's posted here, Bush was going along with the leaders customs.

From one leader to another, they do not bow.
For god's sakes he didn't bow to the Queen of England which is customary for the "common folk" when meeting her.  Why would he feel the need to bow to this King(or prince)?

I agree with you about the different customs of other countries but for this country it was not one of them.

This may come as a surprise to those of you here that know my views on Obama...how I despise his socialist/Marxist policies, his anti-2A, anti-business, anti-free market vision of how he's attemptimg to make America into just another 3rd world socialist ****-hole, but I DON'T believe the man was BOWING to the Sheik......

.....It was more like GROVELING, and in my 57 years, I've never seen an American President do anything as degrading and disgusting as that subserviant gesture to another national leader. This even eclipses Bill Clinton's Monica episode, as that was more of a personal offense, and what Obama did, he did in an official capacity as the President Of The United States Of America.
 
I'll bet his wife is REALLY proud of her country now.
