Where I am up in Bracken County caught some of the wind off Ike. It did not blow down trees as badly as Cincinnati, but it did blow down a lot of leaves, and I fear a lot of acorns. Anyone else seeing a lot of acorns down early?
This may really influence hunting. If there are a lot of acorns down, the deer will move up into the oak groves early. October may be a bang-up month for bow hunters, youth hunters, and the smoke polers. What I worry about is November and the rifle hunt. Normally, there are still plenty of acorns dropping for the opener. If they are all down, the deer may move out of the oaks and go elsewhere.
