Best time of year to shoot a trophy buck in Kentucky?

Postby Deerhuntinglover22 » Sat Feb 28, 2009 3:14 pm

Hello everyone I was just wondering what the best time of year was to hunt in kentucky like when the rut or pre rut starts. I live in michigan but have family that own a farm in kentucky and got invited to go hunting down there this coming deer season. They live in the south western part of the state. And I would appreciate any advice I could get Thanks.

If you're rifle hunting, the best time to shoot a trophy buck is opening week of modern weapons season-- probably Opening Day.

If you're a bow hunter, I'd say the best time is the weekend prior to the Modern Weapons Opener and whole week leading up to it.

I take off and hunt the week before and the first week of gun season. This year should be good because the opening of gun should be later this year.
