I have some gift cards to Scheels and am looking to get a Thompson Center Omega Z5 muzzeloader. I am leaning towards the blue/black version, mainly because of cost.
Any major reason to kick in the extra $ for the weather shield or other options?

You mean any reasons other than at times the weather we hunt in is not always sunny, precipitation-free days? I always go for the stainless/synthetic, but it comes down to personal choice and whether you think you would benefit from options that make your investment more corrosion resistant.

Get that 'coon' off my beagle Deerhunter.
I just sold my Knight that was blued. Even though I clean it thoroughly after each firing, wipe it after even outing, and store it with moisture absorbing pellets it still had small rust spots. I think the black powder substitutes are more corrosive than the manufactures report.
