since you use a traditional bow you might also want to ask what type of bow.

When I got the poundage checked at my local pro shop he said bow was set at 73lbs. Not sure why because advertised weights are 60-70lbs. Wouldn't mind getting a new bow that you can bump to 80 pounds. I am a pretty big guy and have lifted weights all my life so 73lbs is a pretty easy pull even in cold weather.

Well since you asked I use a self bow made of Osage Orange and bamboo backed it was my second attempt at making a bow. The first bow was made of hickory and I took off to much tiller and ruined it. My bow is 61 inches long and is rated at 41 pounds with a 28 inch draw length, I draw closer to 29 inches so I think it is really closer to 45 or 46 pounds.

I pull about 53 lbs on a Forge SRX. It gets the job done. Increased poundage only generates noise and I risk destroying my shoulder.
