Finally someone shows the reality of bowhunting

Postby ildeerhunter84 » Sat Nov 24, 2012 10:32 am

I have been bowhunting for 12 years and have taken my fair share of deer with a bow. I have also lost a few through the years. 3 years ago I had an opportunity at a 160" 12 pt that was trailing a doe. I bleated to stop him in my shooting lane and knew to aim low because of the scenario. He ducked and turned as the arrow entered resulting in a high shot. Needless to say he wasn't recovered as the shot was above the lungs and below the spine. We photographed him 1 week later in the same area with a doe.

The guys from The Management Advantage just had a show along the same lines. It's nice to see someone actually airing that type of footage and using it as an educational tool. It happens to everyone, but it's kind of a forbidden topic. Here's the show: http://themanagementadvantage.com/home/hunting-the-rut/

Never seen them before. Good show. Good photography.
The only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker is observation. All the same data is present for both. The rest is understanding what you are seeing.

They do put together a great show. Short and sweet. Easy to watch on a lunch break at work, but still informative.

Been there with the shot just high of the lungs just behind the shoulders. Really stinks since it often appears to be a good pass-through shot but the deer keeps going and going. Now I aim a little further back and midway down so as to be dead center on the lungs.

Bowhunting is a most interesting and challenging hunting technique. Tools and equipments of bowhunting got changed and became more efficient than past years. Arrows of today's bow flies better and penetrates deeper as compare to bow used in past time.

I have never seen the show . Most of the big shows won't show a video like that so people will think the hunters are Bow Gods . We get a bad hit once in a while and so do the Pros . Good video !

Fasteddie, where have you been?
Keep life simple...if you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras.
