Best Binos?

Postby Jaybird654 » Mon Sep 27, 2010 8:52 am

I'm in the market for a good pair of binoculars for bow hunting. Any opinions on whether I should go for an 8X with a wider field of view/ greater ability to catch available light? Or a 10X with a narrower field of view/less light catching? I will be using them to do some spotting and stocking/still hunting, but I'll probably be in a treestand 75% of the time.

Also, my budget is in the 150 dollar range. Anyone have a pair they'd recommend in the price range?

In the grand scale of things there are no "good" binoculars in the $150.00 range. You would be better off saving for a truly good pair, instead of buying 2 or 3 pairs of cheap ones until you finally get disgusted enough to get a decent pair. By the time you've bought several of the cheaper ones, you'd be right where you'd be if you just saved and bought good ones.

I'd rather pay $200.00 for my rifle and pay $500 for my scope.

Good optics are expensive for a reason.

I really like binos made by Steiner.
I only hunt on days that end in ' Y '.

I bought a set of Steiner Safri Pro 10x26 compact binos on sale a couple of months ago for around $150.00 . Not sure wether you can still find them on sale or not but I couldnt be happier with them . They are a lot clearer and take in more light than the cheaper Nikons I was used to using .

If I cant make a good shot please let me have a clean miss
