Grains???

Can someone tell me why we measure weight of arrows in grains of gun powder? Why not oz. or grams?

  im gonna go out on a limb and say that  nessecity was the mother of invention again in the fact that some of the first "pro shops" so to speak were gunsmiths at first were measuring this way any how?

I'm thinking that "Grains" are a finer measurement and easier to use and understand when refering to how much an arrow weighs in at,plus it is similar to the weight of a bullet?

Grains is a much finer measurement than ounces or grams !

Not sure how rainbows are formed but I do know a few things about mopar posi units...lol
 
Percision??? You can measure grams or oz. out to .00001
Just seems out dated. The traditional part I can respect, but I'm just sick of converting. I use a penny alot of times because a penny= 24 grain
