I've been using them since I started hunting. It is always the best practice I have. For some reason I shoot better in the field under real conditions. I keep 2 tipped arrows with my compound bow and my crossbow.

Easy answer first.....brand......ZWICKEY!!!! Don't even consider anything else. I've tried other copy cat brands, and they fall apart after a half dozen shots. The Zwickey Judos will last for literally THOUSANDS of shots, as long as you don't shoot them into rocks or concrete.

You shoot them at almost anything you want outside, and you will have to work REAL hard to lose one. They WILL NOT tunnel under the grass, and will actually spring back up and will be laying on top of the grass or small brush. I like to shoot mine at weed heads, leaves (either on the tree or on the ground), rotten stumps, small branches and round bales. It is EXCELLENT practice for hunting, because you are constantly shooting at different distances, terrain features and lighting conditions. Believe me, when you slice the head off a weed that's gently moving in the breeze at 20 yards it's better than hitting the 12 ring on a 3-D target! I will also save old plastic jugs of various sizes and hang them from branches or just throw them on the ground and shoot the Judos at them from all angles and distances.

Imagine being able to go outside and shoot at whatever strikes your fancy, and not then spending a half hour looking for your arrow. You just walk over and pick it up. They can also be used as a small game head. I always carry one in my Mini-Catquiver while hunting, and I take shots while walking in and/or out.

For me they are definately a "don't leave home without one" item. Frankly I'm amazed that more bowhunters don't use them! They make the WORLD your "target".

Damned if I didn't have a gopher jump the string. He had his head stuck up looking around. From where the arrow hit I might have hit him at 20 yards.

Bummer. He is getting used to me going after him (or her).
