going out with a gun

Postby cull » Fri Dec 03, 2010 5:52 pm

deer sightings have dropped off for me. Dropped a 118 lb doe on the 13 of Nov. Do you think the rut is on or wrapping up?

I think that the rut is winding down here in zone 10. For several weeks I couldn't find or see a deer if my life depended on it. then in the last two days I have seen 4 deer between the hours of 8-10am. I'm hitting the stand tomorrow morning.

Saw a doe and 2 fawns out in a corn field right at dark on my ride home.(12-10-10) Seems like does are getting back to the food sources. Are you seeing any action around acorns?

The break in the cold weather filled the woods with hunters and non hunters in my area. I'm trying to hunt some tight spots with my bow but its tough with all the people in the woods. I'll have to find some oak trees that are producing yet are not were everyone else is walking.
