MN Hunting & Fishing license fee increase

Postby dewey » Thu Jan 13, 2011 2:10 pm

Hey all,

The Star Tribune is reporting that there is some movement on potentially increasing hunting and fishing licenses, probably about $5 each.

Here is the article.

IMO I think this is well overdue, I mean we are talking about $5 more a year. I don't know about anybody else but $5 is a drop in the bucket of my annual hunting campaigns. Box of shells ~$45 (x2-3), gas ~$120+ motel $$75 or more. Seems like a no brainer to me. Another thing is why don't they set the license fee to increase with inflation so that way we don't have to go through this fight every 10 years or so[8|]. Seems like bad leadership by our elected officials.

Also, in the article from Ron Schara it is noted that the average hunter spends $783 each year. Even if you spend have of that $5 is a drop in a big bucket.

I voted against it for the simple fact I am a cheapskate.

It does make sense though.  It just seems prices are always going up for everything.
