This is my 6th season there and I had not shot a buck. I had passed on a lot of yearlings and 2.5's, but I had never been able to put a tag on anything but does. There are worse fates than having a little little patch of ground were you can go to fill the freezer, but I was really wanting to kill at least one buck.
Well yesterday morning I was finally able to get that done. When this buck walked into bow range I was so ready! I think he is a 2.5 but I could care less at this point. He's a fine little buck and I am more than happy with him. 6 years of hard work is a long time.
The shot was poor and I had to track all day, but as you can see from the photo, the neighbors were willing to help me with their 4 (er... I mean 8) wheeler. [;)]
