It's Almost Time

Postby Joel Spring » Thu Aug 08, 2013 5:26 am

Hi there, my fellow New Yorkers.

It must be that time again. Anyone around with any good pre-season tales to tell?

I've been seeing a few bucks around, and it seems like more fawns than ever in my corner of Niagara County.

How bout you?

I have had a couple cameras out in two separate areas. Got pics of does, turkey, fisher and what everyone believes is a wolf. It was a huge animal, over 100 pounds. Not had any pics of bucks, but am sure they are around also. I'm a meat hunter so antlers don't discourage me and they make terrible tasting soup.

Season is getting close for some of us. For those with last years tags season starts one week from today for bow hunters. :)

I've been finding alot of huge scrape in the area of my stand. I've found some great rubs too, which are pretty tall the tree. Found some huge tracks which look like moose, but the cover is to low for a moose. Cant wait first year on the new prop. good luck everyone.

Checked my camera yesterday and the small bucks that are in the area are still in velvet. Good chance to get a velvet buck on Friday I guess. Did anyone ever try to freeze dry one?
