Postby msbadger » Thu Feb 05, 2009 5:37 am

Are we all hoping for this coming fall....What do you think your chances are.....Mine are the usual...8N....8X....had a hard time several years getting 8X but finally last year it came through...but with temps and snow...not getting too hopeful....always others at camp manage some so they usually have one to sign over to me....8N they issued me one the first round and two the second round...never worry about tags here

I usually go for 6A and 6C. Got one for 6A last year for the first time in a while, that means I probably wont get another one for another 3 years, just a prefference point.
Put me on a mountain, way back in the backwoods
Put me on a lake with biggin' on the line
Put me around a campfire cookin' something I just cleaned

John here in NY we have the state broken up into DMU's (deer management units).....they each have a corresponding number/letter identification #....When applying for doe tags we are allowed to request tags in up to 2 differant units....the DEC alots tags for each unit ...based on herd size and I suppose a few other factors... You request the unit/units and then "randomly" selected...some times you get a tag some times not...if you hunt in good units you can get 2 tags the first draw...then later there is a second for remaining tags...Last year I was lucky and got 4 doe tags ...then had another 2 tags signed over to me by family...each hunter is allowed to have 2 tags signed over from other hunters with tags....

I am jealous Reeper. My property is in 6A, but since I live in VT, I can't get a permit in 6A. I usually travel to the southwest for them, usually in the 8N to 8W area. Good luck with permits this year everybody.

Hey Beagleman,

Thanks for the information. I have looked into the landowner part of the regulation, and I am not 100% positive, but believe that it is for resident land owners. I will look into it a little more though. As far as family members or friends signing over tags, I have no family over there and all the neighbors hunt. Slim chance on that one. I really do appreciate the information though. I will look into it further.
