opening rifle up south of 5&20?

I also agree with it's the ppl behind the rifle....sad thing is those aren't in MANY cases the small game hunters that shoot much of the year....it's the thousands of NY "big game" (deer) hunters that practice 4 or 5 shots before opening day [8|]...As I said Our camp is in Allegany county and I rifle hunt there ....but leave them out of livingston county...it's just TOO populated...and watch what we as hunters ask for....because of the 16mo. old being shot..and I think it was with a shotgun.... Talk now is looking into farther set back limits.....

It is not the rifle that is dangerious, it is the person behind the gun. Hunter education and firearms safty needs to be stressed more.  With Bucks only legal in New York without a Doe permit, It takes  time to be sure of legal antlers which should allow time to identify the background. All people in anytype of public hunting area should be wearing at least an orange vest and hat
