Downside: Another damaging invasive species that will compete with our indigenous wildlife.
 
Upside: Something else to hunt! Potentially good for the hunting economy

Yes, I have heard they can do some real damage. I wonder though if they will really take hold in NY. It seems as though with the amount of time they have been in adjacent states they would have spread more by now. Time will tell. I'm a glass half-full kind of guy. Maybe it will provide a catalyst for some improved access and land-owner relations.
