I got out Monday morning after the weather broke. Had 3 does come in at 8:30, directly under my stand and from behind. Squirrels had been making noise all morning behind me and the deer caught me with my pants down (no, not literally). When the largest doe moved off to 20 yards and posed perfectly broadside, I picked a hole through the brush (no shooting lane in that direction of course) and proceeded to deflect an arrow directly into the dirt a yard short of her.
That was a "gimme" shot. And, I might add, there's no such thing as a gimme.
Damn!
The bright side is that she didn't know I was there, and just trotted calmly off, just slightly startled.
