Two CRP Mid-Contract Management, MCM, workshops will be offered in August by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife, Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCD's) and Pheasants Forever (PF). The workshops will help landowners learn to manage grassland through conservation programs.
The first workshop will be held on August 8, 2009 at the Adams Township House located at 100 Park Street, Gettysburg Ohio 45328. This workshop is presented for landowners in Auglaize, Darke, Mercer, Miami, and Shelby Counties. The second workshop will be held on August 29, 2009 at Hueston Woods State Park office located at 6301 Park Office Road, College Corner Ohio 45003. This workshop is for landowners in Butler, Greene, Hamilton, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren Counties. Both workshops will start at 9am and conclude at 3pm.
Topics to be discussed include; The Conservation Reserve Program as well as other conservation programs, habitat enhancements, wildlife benefits and practices, MCM techniques, and local program contacts to assist landowners with management questions. Representatives from Farm Service Agency and the US Fish and Wildlife Service will also be available to answer questions. Each workshop will include a fieldtrip to a property currently enrolled in one of the grassland conservation programs. In the field, participants will be able to see how and why MCM practices are required on their CRP grounds and the impacts they can have on a warm season grass stand.
