I hit a big buck last saturday morning square in the shoulder. Got about 3in of penetration. Bent the tip of my broadhead 90 degrees and one of the blades too. Lost blood rather quickly and 2 days of seaching resulted in no deer. Saw him last night while spotting and he has a slight limp but thats about all. Hopefully i can get redeamers on him tomorow. Deer movement in my area seems to be picking up rather well. Good luck to everyone.

There will be no more 2 blade rage broadheads shot by this guy.

Sorry to hear about your injured buck, I hope you get him, but don't blame the broadhead. I don't shoot rage, they are too pricey, but any broadhead will do the job if the shot is good, and the poundage is sufficient for the distance.
You say you hit the shoulder squarely, You might as well have hit armor plating. A bullet will blow through a shoulder bone, but few broadheads will, and those that do, have lost a lot of their momentum, and penetration will suffer for it.

I shoot a 150 lbs crossbow, and I will not even try to go through a shoulder.

Im actually glad the arrow didnt penetrate more than it did. The deer was quatering away from me at a slow walk at about 15 yrds. The deer wasnt stopping and was about 5 steps from being out of my shooting lane. Breaking one of my own personal rules to never shoot a walking deer, I led him slightly and shot. As i shot the deer stopped and I hit it in the shoulder quartering away from me. The arrow and broadhead came out within ten yards. I have never hit a deer in the shoulder with a bow before and was shocked by how badly it damaged the broadhead. But im glad it didnt penetrate any further becasue it could have resulted in a harder wound and the possibility of the arrow breaking off in the deer.

Got one this morning. He had double drops earlier in the year when i videoed him. 7.05 this morning he came chasing a doe.I couldnt be happier

Nice buck! I see above that you said you would never shoot a two blade rage again. What did you end up getting this guy with?

Well obviously i dont practice what i preach because i used a rage 2 blade again. After some good advice and getting over some stubborness from me i was convinced that the broadhead was not the problem. It did the trick this time and no more complaining from me!
