Bigger 9 point

Postby oletimer » Sat Nov 10, 2012 11:13 pm

Wow what a season. Took this guy about 8:30 this morning. Was sitting in my stand and looked around behind me and thought I saw a deer in the biggest ugliest mess of tangles. Put the binoculars up and saw it was a deer and saw the glisten of antlers. Well then he moved his head and all I could tell was he was very heavy. Then I went into shooting mode. Put the muzzleloader up and was surprised I had a shot in all those brambles. He went straight down and I still had no idea of how many points. Well there was no ground shrinkage when I got over to him. That's when I got buck fever.

Well done oletimer. Been having a slow year so far around Culpeper County.. But the season is still young.

Nice job, been a bit slow in Nelson as well hadn't seen but one shooter and of course wasn't in range. Congrats on a great buck!

Nicely done. I too will shake AFTER the shot, if I shake at all. It's got to be a reaction to adrenaline.
The only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker is observation. All the same data is present for both. The rest is understanding what you are seeing.
