Best week to plant fall plots?

Postby bullwinkle » Fri May 01, 2009 11:36 am

We used to plant our food plots on Labor Day weekend.  Got burned with an early frost and moved them last year to the second week of Aug.  Last year we got burned with no rain.  Thinking about moving it to the last week of July/1st week of Aug to hedge my bet with the rain.  Any issue with planting it this early?

Thats when we will be planting our fall plots. Shooting for the last week in July if the weather permits. That is when most falls plots like turnips and the such are recommended to plant. If you are planting winter wheat or rye you could wait till a little later.
