Cougars in WI?

Postby buckhunter21 » Thu Mar 05, 2009 4:18 pm

Found this article online just a little bit ago.  Makes you wonder...I wouldn't want to be walking in the woods at night (or the day for that matter) and not being prepared to run into one of these!

We have had mountain lions here in Florence County for at least the last 20 years.
The last one I saw was at the edge of my backyard late spring of 2008. The first, back in the late 80's.
In fact, last summer, they had one running around downtown Iron Mountain, MI...about 8 miles from me.

Did they get a collar on the bad boy? Are we sure it's a Mountain Lion and not a Detroit Lion? 0-16 I'd wear a disguise and hide in northern Wisconsin too, it beats jumping into the ocean. The Bears ate 'em, the wolves ate 'em, funny stuff, the truth is the bears and the wolves are hungry and there's not many deer left to feed them. We should have cougars too but the food chain is too out of wack to support bears, wolves, cougars and human hunters. There aren't enough deer to support any more predators. For hunting to survive we must bring back the elk and bison and continue to repair the natural food chain with the renewable resources that this land was made to produce. With elk and Bison we know would have a more stable and productive food chain that could provide huntable numbers of each species. Bears, wolves, cougars and hunters all want the same thing. More critters to hunt. Put the critters that are supposed to be here and we can all be happy.
