The deer are becoming smarter, it is alluded to right in the Hunting Regs on page 5, "it is still a challenge for many hunters to find deer".... "Preseason scouting is crucial to deer hunting success"... "Don't fall into the habit of hunting the exact same spot every year and expect to see deer because you used to see them there"... actually that makes it sound more like hunters are getting dumber.
I don't have my "DNR to actual number" cheat sheet in front of me, so if they say 451,000 deer were killed that means, what, about 225,000 deer were actually killed? I know they can't count live deer, and as I found out when I registered my buck in Novemeber they can't count dead deer (DNR guy told me harvest at that checkpoint was well over 100, checkpoint worker counted the actual registrations to be under 50) so I'm guessing there is no way they actually got the total harvest number right either.
So according to the dnr we are not suppose to hunt the same spot year after year. Are they going to give us money to go buy new land because after 5 years the land we have has been hunted to much or are we suppose to go on public land and deal with seeing fewer deer and more hunters. I would be afraid to shoot for fear of shooting a hunter by accident.
Maybe the deer got smarter like the picture below.[:D]
