I had some great success with turnips this past fall in Sauk County. After Oct1 had deer on them every night/mornng I hunted. The plants did not get very tall before the first frost, or I think it would have atracted more, Usually, only 1-2 a hunt, and mostly doe. I planted Aug 5 last fall. I'm
wondeing if I plant sooner, will I get bigger plants or bigger weed problems? The weeds were just starting to catch the turnips before snow, of course there wasn't much left of the turnips by then. I did not do a good job with weeds before planting though. I plan to do better against them this year.
What date is the earliest you've planted turnips with success?
Also, any luck with chicory or buckwheat? When should these be planted?
Always looking to do better.
