Paying for land access

 How do you all feel about paying for land access?
 
 The reason I ask is because when I hunted Alberta last year I read were you cannot compensate the landowner for hunting their property, so when I got there I asked my buddy and he told me that is true, because Canada doesn't want hunting just to be for the rich..I couldn't belive how many thousands of acres they could hunt just by knocking on doors, and had to pay nothing for some of the best hunting in the world it was awesome. I think it would be great to hunt prime land without having to pay threw the nose for it...Oh and there was plenty of room to hunt and never had anybody hunting the same land as we did..

I would be totally opposed to any law that would limit how a landowner can profit from his/her own land. This is an issue of indvidual freedom.
 
Canada is acting as a socialist state. Just look at their gun laws.

I can see the issue on both sides, But it would still be great to not have to pay tons of money to hunt...

No doubt! I saw the trend moving that way and borrowed against my house so we could mave the "micro" property we now have. The payment hurts every time I make it.

No doubt! I saw the trend moving that way and borrowed against my house so we could mave the "micro" property we now have. The payment hurts every time I make it.

I am thankful that nobody charges that I know of around here to hunt, but would love to own a big ranch in a western state with Elk and deer, and of course keep it all to myself..[:)]

Leased hunting has been in Missouri for some time and Iowa is catching up fast. Full-blown outfitters and even high fences are also on the rise. I hate it, but I hate to see people loose their landowner rights even more.

me to I also hate seeing hunting turning  into a richmans sport.. I am a strong supporter of landowner rights, I wish they could use some of our over taxed money and pay landowners a landuse few, courtesy of our tax money..like crp does were they pay landowners to plant crp grass and pay the farmers not to harvest  anything off that section of land and they allow hunting...

Did you know that it is illegal for a landowner to lease CRP ground for hunting? It is a little known fact. Think about how much land that would remove from leased hunting if it were enforced!

I hate the fact that I'll never hunt some of the prime land in this nation because of the fees that the landowners charge.  But, at the same time, the landowner put out the money for the property, so he should be able to do whatever he wants with it.
 
In Alberta, they cannot charge to hunt, but are they still entitled to post their property and not allow hunting at all?  I hope so.

yeah I knew that, allthe crp land we have here is feel free to hunt that I have seen..But I know there has to be some charging to hunt it...
