What Gun/Guns and Ammo do You Deer Hunt with?

I just started deer hunting 2 years ago; I'm 59. I decided to get a rifle and studied long and hard. Decided on a Savage 7mm Mag because I thought bigger was better. Was I ever wrong!  It shot great, but kicked like a mule!  I was hurting by the time I got it sighted in.  Way too much gun.  Sold it; decided on a Remington 700 in 270.  Shoots like a dream, plenty powerful enough.  Now for the ammo. I ordered some Nosler custom ammo and although it's pricey, my rifle must like it because it is unbeliveably accurate.

my two primary deer guns are currently a moss. 500 20ga i bought for my daughter but it shoots rem core lokt's so well and weighs so little that dad is really gettin attached to it. MY deer gun is a cva side lock .50. shoots like a dream, and ive always been a bit nostalgic when it comes to firearms. over the years ive used a 16 ga, 12 ga , .357, .454 casull. pretty much tried everything i could here in illinois.

I shoot a Rossi .223 with a 55 gr. SP by Monarch. Works wonderfully. For days that the .223 just doesnt feel right I use a Win. .270 with 155 gr. Core-loks. I also have a Moss. 500 for brush hunting. Fires a nice, juicy 1 oz. slug.

carried it quite a few times, have a buddy whose killed two with his, very effective. he just picked a new .460 smith. theres a group of 7 of us who go down for il's late firearm/pistol season.

I'm also fairly new to the sport. I bought the Remington 700 chamgered for .270. I'm shooting Remington's Core Lokt ammunition. I didn't feel the premium rounds (XP3, Sirocco, etc.) was worth the cost. The balistics on the Core-Lokt is almost identical out to 300 yds. I probably will never have a shot over 200 yds on the property I hunt.

270 is one of the best choices for deer hunting hard hitting and a very flat shooter. 
 
I use a savage 110 in 300 win mag shoots the best with Federal Premium Noslar Partitions. Some say over kill for deer But I looked at my wallet and though I would just buy one gun that I can use on just about everything. Deer up to moose and bear.

I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. Depending on which area of my land I'm hunting I either use a Remington Model 2700, in .270win or a Remington model 600, in .308.  I like the 270 in 150gr for the extra range when I'm hunting my fields and my 308 when I'm in the woods.

Anyone using single shot rifles? Other than the muzzle loaders there doesn't appear to be many.
I would like to get one just to make the hunt one notch more challenging.
I can only recall a couple of times that I needed the second shot anyway.

I shoot a Winchester Model 70 in 270WSM shooting hand loads that my Dad makes up for me. The loads are 140gr Hornady SST and 70 gr RE 25 powder I believe. It definitely kicks a bit, but it lays 'em down. I've shot 4 deer with it and 3 were good shots through the vitals and only one ran about 25 yrds. The other I pulled the shot and was a gut shot. On smaller deer the hydroshock will break the spine at 50yds or less. I have a CVA Optima Elite ML on the way. Can't wait to get her dialed in. I have some Shockey's Gold and 200gr TC Shockwaves already, but I will switch to Blackhorn 209 powder after I finish off the Shockey's.
