Straight from the regs:
Scents: Scent may be used for hunting deer or other wild animals, but
the scent may not be placed or deposited in a manner that it is accessible
for consumption by deer, and scents shall be removed daily at the end of
hunting hours established for deer. However, two ounces or less of scent
may be placed, used or deposited in any manner for hunting game and
does not need to be removed daily at the end of hunting hours.

Later in the regs:
Animal part or animal by-product means honey, bones, fish, meat, solid animal fat, animal carcass or parts of animal carcasses, but does not include liquid scents.

I wonder sometimes when reading some of these regs....are we trying to thin out the deer herd or not?

Just to clarify, liquid scents are legal in WI. They are explicitly excluded from the animal by-product list, so they do not fall under the no use of animal by-products rule.

I get that you can use liquids, but isn't it limited to 2 ounces? The magnum dripper holds 4 ounces.

Didn't realize that. Yeah, technically illegal if you leave it out overnight. If you pack it in and out with each hunt, you are okay. Still, I think you would have to have a DNR official in a pretty bad mood to hit you with that.

I set up my stand last weekend, and left the Magnum Dripper out for the two weeks leading up to next weekend. Hopefully there are no grouchy DNR Wardens monitoring this site.
