Topo & aerial software or...

As our bow opener is right around the corner I've been looking at alot of aerial pics and topo maps. I'm currently looking on terrasever/usa
and google earth.
Does anyone use or know of anything better?

try www.local.live.com    i can get sattelite photos of our farm down to 50yds with every angle. you can actually see the trails in the grass. and best of all its free.

Like howhill1 said, you can zoom in pretty close and it is FREE!!!

I've found that GlobeXplorer has the most recent images for my area.

However it is not free.  I did a one month subscription because I wanted to order a print of our property and frame it, and I wanted the most recent picture of our property - June 19, 2007.  Other than that though I'd stick with the free sites.
 
The other sites, GoogleEarth, MSN Virtual Earth, etc all pretty much use the same USGS images.  Of those services I prefer GoogleEarth, simply because it allows me to do an elevation exaggeration that really shows the difference in terrain height and provides other features not available in the others.

I use terra as well. I know you can use google earth too but I have found that to be kind of a pain. One thing you can try to do is go to your local dnr and ask to buy a map of the area you are going to hunt. If they do not have one they can tell you where you can go to buy a map of the area.They do that here in the lower Michigan where I hunt. I know it is nice to use. You can also try the book Mapping for trophy bucks by brad herndon. That book will give you all sorts of good tips for finding deer on topo maps. Good Luck
