IL. state police reject FOID card applicants

State police have started to reject anyone under 10 years of age from obtaining a firearms I.D. card.  Gun control groups appauded the new restriction, calling it a way to discourage participation in shooting sports.  The IL. State Rifle Association argues that such a policy will have an adverse impact on gun safety training , and youth shooting programs.

we in illinois are controlled by what the liberal democrat machine  in chicago sees out they're limo windows every day. the real root of this problem is the fact that the state police issued a card to a BABY and it made national headlines.

It may very well be just a matter of time before the FOID card, in it's present form at least, becomes a thing of the past.
 
Now that the HELLER case has been decided, that affirms that ALL Americans have an INDIVIDUAL right to "KEEP AND BEAR ARMS", I don't see how government on ANY level can charge a fee or tax on an individual in order for them to exercise a Constitutional freedom.
 
Imagine the uproar that would occur if Illinois started to charge a tax that one had to pay before they could VOTE, or even register to vote, like the old "poll tax" of the Jim Crow south.
 
What is really troubling to me about the Illinois FOID card tax, is that the fee is an arbitrary number, that can be raised or lowered by whomever is in power, and they can set that dollar amount at a rate that would discourage many from having a FOID card.  When our current Governor Blagojevich was a state senator, he wanted to RAISE the FOID card fee by 10,000 PERCENT (!!!!), from $5.00/5 years, to $500.00/5 years.
 
If they can do that, then why not 100,000 percent?

I would be willing to bet the person who applied for the card for the baby was an anti themself.  They probably saw that this oversight in legislation existed, exploited said loophole by getting a card for their own baby, then 'leaked' the story to the public in order to create outrage which would lead to this new enactment.  Just a thought.

would not suprise me either. as far as firearm ownership costing. illinois own osamabama wants to see just that.  one of the oldest gunban tricks around. if you cant ban em tax em beyond the reach of ordinary citizens.

unconstitutional... George and Rod just got away with it because it wasn't very costly and nobody made a big stink about it. NRA needs to go after IL right now!
