hi when trying to paper tune a bow you don't have to stand very fare from the paper. mabe two or three feet at the most.

i have also paper tund with a arrow that had no fleching on it, at cloce rang wont afect the flite of the arrow.

My bow shop paper tunes from 8 feet.  I dont know how to tune a crossbow even though I hunt with one as well.  I do not use a cocking aid, but do pull back with my thumbs on each side of the rail so I know that I am going straight back with the string.  This will help avoiding shooting left/right.  Maybe you already knew this, but if not hope it helps.  Good luck this year.  Pan
