I always wear my hunter safety system vest in my stands.
I only use climbing sticks.
I never use my lineman's belt when climbing up my sticks. I know I should, but it's really a pain to do--hard to keep moving the belt up, takes alot longer.
I am very careful when climbing my sticks, always keeping at least one hand and one foot on the ladder part of the step at all times.
I need to figure out a way to use my belt when climbing in and out.

Well, I hope I don't become a statistic. Wait, I drink enough to be considered an alcoholic... So Im already a statistic. (not even close by WI standard, but some genious thinks a 6 pack of beer in one sitting during a Packer game qualifies you as an alcoholic. I was told this by a physician.) :

I've never fallen, but am more concerned now as I am getting older. Swinging into my stand from my climbing sticks is sometimes an adventure.
Will put the safety strap to good use this late season bow. Thanks again for the link.

HSS is awesome. I used to be able to get 3/4 up a tree without a safety harness, not the safest thing to do now looking back, but this was before safety harnesses were revolutionized. I have a disability from my first deployment overseas that slightly damaged my equilibrium. I can only go about 15-16 feet now up into a treestand. With that and hearing and reading stories about deaths and permanent injuries from falling from trees while hunting, I have worn one for two years now. Again, I don't want to become a statistic.
