20 Gauge slug guns?

A Mossy 20 GA will do the trick on a deer inside 100 yards.

We used an Rem 1100 20 GA as my sons' Yute slug gun. It worked just fine.

When I was a kid, both my Dad and I used Remington 870 in 20 gauge here in Ohio.  I never once lost a deer, neither did he.  A 20 ga. slug will make a big hole, and make a big blood trail.  Do not hesitate; use a 20 ga. with confidence.

My father in law had a Mossberg 500 , 20 guage smoothbore with the old Weaver Kwik-Point sight on it . He loaned it to my sister in law . I was hunting with her and she shot a 5 point buck at 169 paces ( approx 130 yards) using the cheap Federal Foster slug . A 20 ga has plenty of knockdown power . I have a Winchester 1200 pump and wouldn't have taken the shot ( well , maybe ) .
I would take a Mossberg over a Remington any day of the week . 40 years ago , I wouldn't have said that .

Remington 870, love mine, it has dropped every deer i have shot at with it, i like to use Breneke 3inch slugs in mine, never has it failed to drop a deer, all decent distance shots to at 50 yards and over.

Well a mossberg is not a good idea
to be honest with you all guns have recoil i mean just suck it up and shoot the deer
i was 8 years and i shot a deer with a 12 guage 3 inch slug
and plus i dont know about you other guys but i dont even feel the recoil when i shoot a deer to much adrenalin

I bought a Winchester 12 ga in 1965 to hunt deer . Knowing what I know now , I could have just as easily bought a Mossberg 500 20 ga pump and done just as well . A 12 gauge isn't necessary . The 20 ga is lighter in weight and much less recoil .
I don't feel the recoil when I shoot a deer but I can feel it at the range .

Hey DXThunter. A mossberg is a great idea! I actually have 3 of them and I love every one and they have never let me down. They are well made, they have great customer service and they are priced right. And I dont think that your comment about me sucking it up and shooting the deer was appropriate?......I have actually shot at least 2 deer every year for the past 8 years with a 12 gauge, I was just trying to get some feedback. All guns have recoil but a 20 has less than a 12. your right you dont feel the recoil when u shoot a deer, that wasnt my point. You were 8 years old when u shot a deer with a slug. I see that you are from NY, so am I and you cant hunt deer in NY until you are 16 up until this year when it will be 14?? So are you actually posting on the internet that you are a poacher?? 
 Thanks to everyone that gave me positive feedback.   I am gonna stick with my 12 for this year. ( aka I am gonna suck it up and shoot the deer lol ) I will definately go with a 20 gauge in the next few years! Once again this site has been a great resource.  (minus the inappropriate and rude comments of some)

Umm im actually from Mass
and when i shot my first deer my father was with me and he gave me the gun so umm ya it says u can but u have to have an egually licensed adult with you...so are you a moron or somthing

I would say that a moron is someone who criticizes someone for the type of gun they use. What is the difference. It is none of your business what I do. I asked for some positive feedback, your comments are far from that. Keep to your self if have nothing good to say. Sorry for the mixup on the NY MASS thing. I was mistaken. Just to let ya know shooting a 3 inch slug when you were 8 years old doesn't make you more of a man than me or anyone else. I hope you dont let your temper get the best of you in real life situations. You might get yourself in trouble. Hey good luck this season.
