Pot pie

I had a hankerin' for deer pot pie (I have no idea why either).
Anyone ever make anything like that? Gotta recipe?

Heres a recipe that has worked well for me. Adjust measurements and ingredients to your own taste. You can use frozen vegetable packs if you don't want to cook your own. Any venison works-burger, chopped roast,canned,steaks cut up. Not hard to fix just takes time and can be changed any way you want not an exact recipe since there are so many variables.

[font="times new roman"]Cook in fry pan celery, onion, and parsley in butter until soft. Mix in flour salt and pepper; add broth all at once. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly, add the meat, peas and carrots. Cover and chill. Divide meat mixture into six pre-made pie pastry crusts from frozen food section. Roll out six covers using biscuit dough from the dairy case in the store, wrap pies in tin foil and freeze. Put frozen pie on a cookie sheet and cook at 425 degrees till brown, about 45 minutes(unfrozen about 25).[/font]

[font="times new roman"]1/2 cup carrots[/font]
[font="times new roman"]2 cups chopped pre-cooked[/font]
[font="times new roman"]Venison salt and pepper to taste[/font]
[/align][font="times new roman"]Ingredients 1/2 cup chopped celery 1/2 cup chopped onion 1/4 cup chopped parsley 3 tblsp butter, 3 tblsp flour 2 cans beef broth[/font]

I made a big batch of them this weekend. Mine is a little bit different. I started in the morning by making 2 lbs of bacon for the family breakfast. I saved the grease for browning the venison.

3 lbs venison (cubed or ground)
4 lbs potatos (shred)
3 lrg onions (dice)
2 Cups Mozzarella Cheese
2 Tbsp Salt
Ground rosemary
Garlic Powder
Pre-made pie crust

Step #1: Brown venison in bacon grease, drain, and cool.
Step #2: Shred all potatos (or use un-seasoned hashbrowns)
Step #3: Dice onions.
Step #4: Mix onions, potatos, cheese, and seasoning.
Step #5: Layer the meat and mix in pie crust as a pie, or wrap like a pasty (pizza pocket)

A nice finish for a golden crust is to baste the crust with egg wash. Cook at 350 degrees for 40-60 minutes depending on size or if frozen. Enjoy.
