Bucks Fighting in WI

Postby Blazed » Tue Oct 07, 2008 5:34 am

Oct 4 I sat on a hay field in Sauk County WI, in a groundblind and had 2 bucks fighting within 20 yds of my blind, only not in a window. They fought for about 3-5 min. Skulls crashing and antlers clicking was all I heard for that time. Then they headed off giving no shot.

I am east of Baraboo. I have permission to hunt  a 20 acre and in another spot  I have permission to hunt 10 acres. They are about 5 miles apart. I've shot 2 doe off the 10 acres , but the 20 has the bucks on it. However, I go more times on the buck spot before seeing deer.

ohhh boy...its nice to hear they are bumpin heads already.. I cant wait till they really go at it in Michigan. They are more or less just still sparing here.

I hunt near Wausau WI and I had a spike and button buck fighting in front of on the 4th me for a few minutes.  It was really cool to watch!  I am excited for things to get going soon.

Xenger651, are you from Rushford?  I have a friend of mine from that area.

Anyways, def. seeing the hype with the bucks the last couple weekends with the cooler temps.  I haven't seen any bucks fighting at all, but I've seen plenty of scrapes and bucks chasing does around the fields with their heads to the ground.  Ah, it's like Christmas all over again!

Havnt seen any scrapes on our property yet but I did come across a spot on a logging road that appeared to be two bucks fighting the ground was torn up and some saplings and bushes smashed down and broken up. from the looks of the ground was a pretty good fight..

Got me fired up for the next trip up north to the land.
