Hi guys...new here...came looking for some information, and found a great site.

Just wanted to share a quick story...

My hunting buddy's girlfriend's son (try to keep up) fell from a ladder stand Friday evening.  No harness.  Somehow got his leg caught in the rungs on the way down.

Compound fracture of his leg.
Broke his arm.
Broke his collarbone.
Broke several ribs.
Got a concussion.
Hung upside down for a long time waiting for help.

He's a lucky kid.  He could be dead.  Obviously he's done for the season.  My buddy bought him a HSS vest for Christmas...didn't know he was hunting without one.

Never ever hunt without a good harness.  This is not a good place to save a few bucks.  I'll share another treestand horror story when I get a chance.  That one didn't turn out so well...

I use the seat of the pants harness, it's easy to put on and very light weight.  It also doubles as linemans climbing harness which is great when hanging stands.  I wear it over my pants or bibs and under my coat easier to add and remove layers that way.

My harness is made by Gorilla and I really like it. It's camo of course, but has an orange vest that pulls out of the back of it. Picked it up at Gander Mountain for 40 bucks.

Because of the posts, I started out in a ladderstand yesterday. The stand shifted after being up there so I exited the stand for the day. All I could picture was the stand bottom collapsing under me and I'm hanging by my Loggy harness. Which I wanted no part of at that time. But good came of it, grabbed my stuff, sat under  a big hemlock 40 yrds away getting out of the rain. 6:57am, shot  a 6 point 29 yrds away. So I guess it payed off to think saftey.
There's nothing like being in the outdoors. Work is boring!
