I think it helps that turkeys sleep in trees at night. My situation is kind of unique in that about 15 years ago all the woods around my 40 acres were cut for lumber. Consequently most of the mature trees that the turkeys roost in are on my property. The cut areas are thick with cover that offers good bedding and nesting areas. Lots of undergrowth.
Keep life simple...if you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras.
