Score this Ohio buck I just got on Trail Cam

Postby q2hogdog » Sat Aug 25, 2012 10:29 pm

Just got these pics off of trail cam here in central Ohio. It looks like his velvet has shed. My Primos 46 is about 15 foot up in the tree so I figure his tines and probably taller than they look. What do you guess he would score and What age do you think he is? He is eating the dirt out of a mineral Lick.Image

That looks like a great buck. I think he will score somewhere around 150". Hard to score because he has not shed his velvet. Good luck hunting this guy.

Great looking buck. Careful...looks like he is standing in poison ivy.

Ohio,
Great buck for sure. Call me conservative, (and I hope if you get him, i"m wrong) but I think 130's more of the number.
I don't claim to know more than the next guy, but I believe far too many hunters over estimate deer, so I probably error on the lower side.

He's got 10 nice points, but when I bring out the B&C score sheet, he's around 130 even if we estimate those G2's and G3's at 9 inches.

I think that he looks to have a lot of mass and good Symmetry. I say no less than Ohio Big Buck (140). I guess 150 because of mass. Hopefully I can get him this year so we will know for sure. Thanks for all the guestimates !!!

I say the g-3's are at least 10 or 11 inches. Maybe 12.

If you measure the width of the mineral lick you can get a much better estimate of tine length using your photo...

great looking buck for sure

Good idea. I know the mineral lick is a huge hole. I will measure it

Trust a science nut to figure a way to measure them. But remember perspective as well. if you know the distance from the camera to the points you measure, using math you can figure their rough size. Good thinking deebz. ;)
The only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker is observation. All the same data is present for both. The rest is understanding what you are seeing.
