Deformed antler

Postby charlie 01 » Fri Sep 07, 2012 8:30 pm

At first look I thought maybe he ran into something and bent the antler down, but on a closer look, with the power of zoom, it appears that the pedicel is moved farther down the side of his head and facing down from that point. That's a wonderment. Somethng like that would have had to of happened when a fawn or at least very young.

I,m not convinced that its from an injury. I've seen several bucks with the same thing in s/e michigan.
Its seems to be genetic. My buddy has several of these skulls and they dont look like they were broken.
There have been bucks like that in this area for over 30 years that I know of.

I saw such buck for first time. This is really amazing. But I don't think this is genetic, this would be resulted in an injury. I think this pictures liked by the deer hunters very much.
