OHIO RUT REPORT

Where are we at as far as the rut is concerned?  What's everyone seeing?
 
 
I'm seeing lots of scrapes, that are being visited frequently.  I have only seen one buck that was actually with does.  A 1.5 year old that was showing off, ripping up every sappling he came across.  The does weren't interested.

sunday I seen 2 does out in the field and there was a small buck scent checking the 2 does down wind

Sunday evening I had a decent 8 pt bedded at 50 yrds, a doe passed, he jumped up and blatted (grunted) at her and chased down through the woods.  20 minutes later the big 8 came through at ~70 yrds and I got no response to grunt or snort weeze.  Saw a big 10pt bedded near 3 fresh scrapes I am assuming he made the scrapes and was bedded down wind.  I'll be after him and the oter big boy this weekend with the decoy.  Good luck and shoot straight, should be getting really active till that weather turns warm early next week.

Highs near 70 for friday and sat.  Looking good for the second week of Nov. forecast calling for snow on 4 days and cooler temps.

I was walking around my grandparent's old pond when a massive 13 pointer and a doe jumped up.  They went in different directions and i stood there in awe. The buck then made a complete circle and walked within 10 yards of me while grunting and smelling the ground...have also seen 3 other small bucks running around after does and have called one in with rattleing and grunting. Looks like things are heating up around here but the weather will slow things down.

Which part of Ohio are you located? I'll be out all weekend even with the warmer temps.

northwest ohio..henry county.   Were not known for our big bucks but i got one last year and ive seen a few more this year..hope i can get my hands on one of them.

the bucks are moving now, just saw a big boy killed on the side of the road in mentor, oh...
 
don't know if they are moving in the daytime but this is the second good buck i have seen this week run over by a car
