See, that's where some people go wrong. They get gut matter on the arrow and assume gut shot and leave it go till like 8 hrs. or the next day. It's always wise to take a good look for blood, at least for a little distance. If you get gut matter mixed with blood on the arrow, you can be reasonably sure the liver was hit and the expiration time will be sooner than it being just a gut shot. This could easily happen, being a little off on a quartering away shot. In your case, the arrow did the liver damage first then departed through the stomach leaveing just gut matter on the arrow.

Timing is every thing sometimes...though I'll not look for blood too soon...if the deer circled back or ddin't go as far as I thought I don't want to push them ....one should never assume any thing when not seeing a deer go down with in sight...or hearing a definite crash...

This is a bit sad...Mid Oct in the 2012 season and just two showing deer takes in the pic section?..I know from other forums many deer have been taken....NYS is doing great with a lot of big racked bucks...

Here is the buck I killed 09-26-2012 in Wisconsin while hunting over a soybean field. I saw this buck 3 nights before from the same stand but was unable to get a shot at him. I came back 3 days later and sat the same stand hoping to get a shot at him. About 20 mins before shooting I could hear 2 deer coming to the field the first was a small doe and the second was the same buck from 3 nights earlier. He came out on the trail I was hoping for and I grunted to get him to stop at 18 yards. He turned broadside and I released letting the Rage 2 blade do the rest of the work. It was almost like slow motion as I watched the arrow hit right behind the front shoulder. He mule kicked and ran 60 yards out into the open field and I watched him fall over. He is a 12 point, with a 18 inch inside spread and field dressed 190 lbs. I had him aged at the taxidermist at 3.5 yrs old. He is my biggest buck to date.

Windows 7 I believe Im just not very computer savy. When you asked what I used I almost typed a computer HAHA.
