My first buck

Postby TheHoglandWonder » Sun Nov 16, 2008 1:52 pm

I didn't make it out Sat morning because of the North wind and rain, I decided to keep my stuff dry and wait. From the road I saw a buck bed down tight. After lunch and a quick change of outerwear, the hunt really began. My buddy sat in my stand with binoculars and a grunt tube. I walked the long way around the field making a big loop. Once I got to hundred fifty or so yards, I flopped on my belly and started crawlin'. After three hours of crawling, I still didn't really know where he was so I pick a spot . Sure enough he stood up forfty yards in front of me right where I thought a deer most likey be and waxed him with my muzzleloader. Turned out to be a nice nine pt weighted about 155 dressed. Have pics but don't know how to post them.

Pretty excited....hopefully I keep movin' up. It's kind of depressing though, I waited all year for this and its over in one day. I guess I'll have to find urban ground. Doe tags still need to be filled so its not all that depressing.

Thats to everyone that posted still huntin' for a doe. I was talkin to my neighbor (he owns the farm) and he said I killed the small one on the farm. I guess there is a buck about the same size as mine runnin around and another that is much bigger. So hopefully I have another fine buck next year. Good luck to everyone
