Book Club?

I realize that it is a bit early to start packing away our gear and begin filling our time with winter activities, but I'm thinking ahead. Would anyone be interested in doing a D&DH book club this winter? I know, "book clubs" are something for women's groups and Oprah fans but I'm talking about books that deal with our subject matter.

If there is a significant interest, I bet the admin would open a board where we could choose a book (possibly linked to Krause Pub.) and we could toss around our thoughts. It would need a couple of mods and probably would not get much of a following until after Christmas, but I figured it would be better to start working on it now.

Anyone in?

Sounds like a cool idea. I have a few deer hunting books. Now, how does a 'book club' operate?

I'd be interested as long as they aren't, "Me 'n Bill went hunting and killed some stuff" type stories.

Jslotter, to be honest I don't know. I think someone (a moderator) picks a book and everyone reads some of it. Then we get together to post our thoughts about what we've read and we continue to do so through the whole book. Obviously we need to be flexible and allow people to jump in and out as time allows.

WW, I'm with you on that! I'm interested in books about the spirit of hunting, the history of hunting and maybe even the future of hunting. I'm only mildly interested in the how to of hunting and I have no desire to read about hunting clebs or big buck stories.

Actually I have a great first book in mind. It is the best book I've ever read on hunting and I'm looking for an excuse to read it again. I'm also looking for some good titles dealing with the legendary hunters/trappers of our history.

I'd be in for sure... I've done a few book studies for work... where you read about so and so's latest approach to education, then the group would meet and discuss the pros and cons and how we can apply that to our specific school setting...but they were really boring for the most part.

I think it'd be cool to read and discuss something i was interested in personally rather than professionally
