Those who have read my other posts know that I am an absentee landlord to a tiny little woodlot in N.W. Missouri and it has been tough at times. The property is so small that it has been hard to implement QDM, but that has not stopped me from trying.
This is my 6th season there and I had not shot a buck. I had passed on a lot of yearlings and 2.5's, but I had never been able to put a tag on anything but does. There are worse fates than having a little little patch of ground were you can go to fill the freezer, but I was really wanting to kill at least one buck.
Well yesterday morning I was finally able to get that done. When this buck walked into bow range I was so ready! I think he is a 2.5 but I could care less at this point. He's a fine little buck and I am more than happy with him. 6 years of hard work is a long time.
The shot was poor and I had to track all day, but as you can see from the photo, the neighbors were willing to help me with their 4 (er... I mean 8) wheeler. [;)]
